Agnes Keil, an insight into her dancing background:
"For me, dancing was confirmation that I should take the artistic path. It strengthened me inwardly to
stand for this bubbling source.
As a seven year old I was lucky to receive lessons from an elderly lady whose background lay in the
school of `Ausdruckstanz´. The object of the lessons was to open as many doors as possible within a
rigid structure. Dance is. Yes, it can be everything – amazing und laughable, compelling, beautiful,
cock-eyed, strict, full of relish, lucid, enlightening, overflowing, the greatest fortune, alive.
To experience through dedication how your own limited being disperses, gives a wonderful feeling of
freedom and great fulfillment.
In later years many influences came along: modern dance, Butoh, African dance, Theatre of Dance, Laban,
creativ and free dance, contact, Trager, yoga, 5 rhythms and many more. I got to know the work of
teachers such as Kazuo and Yoshito Ohno, Anzu Furukawa, Mitsutaka Ishi, Palucca, Koffi Koko, Dieter
Heitkamp etc. through workshops.
After a year at acting school a door opened into the world of sculpting. The arts of sculpting and
dance touch each other, amongst other things, through the subject of space. I love the view across the
border and enjoy these encounters where life, human beings, visual and performing arts interact.
